Three Ways to Enhance Your Designs

By Shirley Frazier
Sweet Survival®/GiftBasketBusiness.com

From The Gift Basket Design Book. Copyright 2004 Shirley George Frazier. All rights reserved.Designers count on three techniques to create beautiful baskets. Are these basics in your design arsenal?

1. Add enhancements outside of the cellophane or bag.

Place a piece of tape on the cellophane at the location where the enhancement will be inserted.

Then snip the tape on the bag and insert the enhancement down into the basket or container.

2. Place tissue puffs between products within the basket.

This technique adds color and visual style. Tissue paper is cut into 6 inch by 6 inch squares.

Use pinking shears or other scissors with a jagged cutting pattern.

The tissue's ends should face upwards in-between snacks and gifts.

3. Master at least six different bowmaking styles. This will differentiate the styling and value of your designs.

There's always one bow that everyone considers as your signature style.

If you don't know more than two bow styles, make an effort this season to learn more.
